A HAND WHEN YOU NEED ONE

A little help.
A lot more keeping.

Get Keepiro into your browser, find your two new shortcuts, and make yourself at home.

Install the 2.5.10 preview

The Chrome Web Store release is being prepared. The 2.5.10 preview is available as a local installation for desktop Chrome 112 or newer. A Keepiro account and permission to process media details are required. Collection and downloads also need the account service to be available.

Download Keepiro 2.5.10 ↓
  1. Extract the ZIP. Locate the folder named keepiro, containing manifest.json. Keep this folder somewhere permanent.
  2. Open Chrome’s extension manager. Type chrome://extensions into the address bar and turn on Developer mode.
  3. Choose Load unpacked. Select the extracted keepiro folder.
  4. Refresh your Instagram tabs. The Keepiro launcher should appear at the bottom-left. A small eye appears beside visible profile photos. Look for the download arrow immediately after Share below each post. Save stays on the same line. The arrow appears in the feed and in opened posts. On opened Reels, find it below Share and above Save in the vertical action rail.
  5. Set up your Keepiro account. Open Keepiro → Account, sign in using the code sent to your email, and review the media-processing permission. Enable it to collect media, then reload Instagram. You can turn it off again in Account.
Updating an existing installation?
Replace the extension files in the folder you originally loaded, click Reload on its card in chrome://extensions, then refresh every Instagram tab. Avoid loading two copies at once.

If the account service is unavailable

Keepiro needs its online account and media service to prepare previews and downloads. If you cannot connect, check your connection and try again later. Loaded previews and your local Library are kept. Do not repeatedly retry when Instagram asks you to pause.

Your two new shortcuts

The eye beside a profile

Click Keepiro’s eye to preview the profile’s available stories in its own gallery. Use the eye if you want Keepiro’s preview. Instagram’s original story circle keeps its normal behavior.

Download after Share

Click the compact download arrow immediately after Instagram’s Share control to save the post without opening it. For carousels, Keepiro prepares all available photos and videos. The arrow also appears in supported post dialogs and post pages. Use the profile eye to preview stories.

The shelf in the corner

Open the Keepiro launcher, choose one or several accounts in the searchable picker, then use Load selected or Load all. Switch between Stories and Posts. Use preview arrows or your left and right arrow keys to browse. Stop cancels loading and pending download preparation.

Something feels off?

My download allowance looks unchanged.+

Update to Keepiro 2.5.10 and refresh Instagram. Use the Download photo or Download video button below the Keepiro preview. The account page refreshes automatically after downloads and when you return to it. Three different stories and five different posts are included per day on Free; repeat downloads of the same item and files from the same carousel do not use extra slots. Failed downloads release their reserved slot. The preview player no longer has a separate download menu.

Where is Download on a profile page?+

On a profile, use the eye icon and choose the Posts tab in Keepiro. Download controls remain available in the Instagram feed and in opened posts, but are hidden on profile grids and profile navigation.

Stories or posts could not load.+

Keepiro now explains the cause in the gallery. Use Sign in or Open Account if your session or media-processing permission needs attention. If Instagram requests a security check, complete it on Instagram. For temporary request limits, wait for the displayed countdown before trying again. Previously loaded previews stay in your shelf. If the problem continues, include the support code shown below the message and your Keepiro version when contacting support. Never send cookies, passwords or sign-in codes.

Sign-in says too many requests.+

Update to Keepiro 2.5.10 and reload the extension in Chrome. The account page shows when you can retry and keeps that countdown after a reload. It also restores an existing code request, so you can enter the code already in your email. Check your spam folder, or use Resend code when its countdown ends. If you see an email-provider setup error, contact support; repeated requests will not resolve that configuration problem.

I can see Keepiro, but a control is missing.+

Make sure you have the current release, reload the extension, and refresh Instagram. Only visible profiles receive an eye, and native menus covering a profile suppress it. Newly loaded posts should receive their controls as you scroll. If one layout still fails, include the extension version and a description of that post layout when contacting support. Never share your cookies or login details.

A video or preview will not load.+

Instagram media addresses can expire. Load that account’s media again while signed in. A blocked verification request can be inconclusive even when playback works. If Instagram limits requests, stop collection and retry later.

Where did my shelf go?+

The gallery is temporary browser-session data. It clears when you close or leave Instagram, restart Chrome, or reload, update or disable Keepiro. Your downloaded files remain on your device.

Why does Chrome ask for site and download access?+

Keepiro needs access to Instagram and its media hosts to collect and preview the media your current session can access. Download permission lets it save your chosen files. Access to api.keepiro.com supports Keepiro sign-in, download allowances and, with your permission, media processing. The extension includes no advertising or analytics scripts. See the privacy page for the data sent to each service.

Can Keepiro guarantee that I am anonymous?+

Keepiro does not open Instagram’s native story viewer or intentionally send story-seen requests. Instagram controls its servers and may record authenticated access. Server-side anonymity is not guaranteed.

Keepiro Free, with Pro coming soon

The public release includes 10 different story previews, 3 story downloads and 5 post downloads per UTC day. Repeat views or saves of the same item do not use another slot. A carousel counts as one post.

Open Keepiro → Account to sign in using a six-digit email code and check your current allowance. Enable media processing if you want Keepiro to prepare previews and saves. Your Instagram login stays in Instagram.

Pro is coming soon. Planned pricing is $4.99 per month or $49 per year, with unlimited story previews and saves. No payment or subscription is needed for Free, and the public release has no checkout.

Need more help?

Check your installed version, refresh Instagram after an update, and describe which control or media item failed. Include only information needed to explain the issue.

You can find this release’s support and publication information in the INSTALL.md guide included with the download.

If posts do not load

Keepiro first reuses posts Instagram has already delivered. If the profile grid is not available, open that profile in the same Instagram tab, wait for its posts to appear, then use Keepiro again. Opening a profile does not require opening its stories.

“Instagram did not accept this request” means a request format is unavailable. Use Open selected profile instead of repeating the same request.

“Instagram has paused requests” means Instagram explicitly limited the read. Keepiro stops further requests and shows a countdown. Repeated retries, switching tabs or reinstalling cannot remove Instagram’s restriction. Existing previews and downloaded files remain available.

Your Free allowance

Each UTC day includes 10 different story previews, 3 story downloads and 5 post downloads. Story lists do not consume previews. Reopening the same story or downloading the same item again that day uses no extra slot. A carousel counts as one post.

Your Library

Open Library from Keepiro to browse, favorite and organize loaded and saved items. Previews need their media to remain available; downloaded files remain on your device. Removing a collection keeps its items. Removing an item does not delete its file.
